26. Lost Treasure of Tuckernuck (Fairlie)

Sixth-graders Laurie and Bud follow a series of clues to figure out the mystery of Tuckernuck Hall and find a treasure before the school board votes to tear down the building. Can Bud and Laurie find the treasure before it's lost forever?

  1. Q: What was written on the first and second bells?
A: On the first one it says 'the church says the earth is flat' and the second one says 'I have seen the shadows on the moon'.

  2. Q: Why do Bud and Laurie want the lost treasure of Tuckernuck?
A: Laurie thinks that the treasure is gold, and if she finds it, she'll be rich. Bud thinks that if he finds the treasure, he'll get to make an 8th grade graduation speech, and make his overbearing dad happy.

I think Bud's dad Horace is way too tough because he makes Bud do a lot of extra tests and work for each subject. I would eternally detest extra work because then I wouldn't have any free time. This extra work is also bad for Bud, who needs time after school to look for the lost treasure of Tuckernuck.
