Tom is a normal seventh-grader, negotiating a slightly prickly stage in his long friendship with Jeff. The arrival of new girl Jessica Feeney, however, changes everything. Jessica, who is attending a local hospital for treatment, has been badly burned by a fire, and her terrible disfigurement shocks the class into confusion.

ReplyDeleteA: No, I do not think this is a good idea because so many people want to be elected, but only one person wins. It is usually the most popular person who wins, and the most popular person might not be the best for the job.
C: My favorite part was when Tom was brave enough to go over to Jessica's house.
Q: How did Jessica get burned?
ReplyDeleteA: Jessica and her mom went to pick up tickets for Jessica's dance recital. The car was still running and this old man had some kind of attack, and went to fast and smashed into the back of the car; gasoline from the gas tank went everywhere inside the car. Everything caught on fire and so did Jessica.
I think the author made it very easy to see what Jessica looked like after and before the fire.

ReplyDeleteA: I think she was sad and embarrassed that her original face was really pretty and after the fire, she turned into a frightful monster.
